Nexus Remote Desktop (RDS) Documentation for Mac

Prerequisites

  1. MFA registration must be completed. Have smartphone/tablet nearby while logging in
  2. For Nexus PC don't use steps below, use this article: Remote access (VPN) - Connecting to AOVPN on an assigned Nexus PC
  3. Microsoft, Apple, and Nexus currently support macOS 10.14 or later (backup link)

Remote Desktop access from personal Mac devices

DISCLOSURE: PLEASE HIT ‘NO’ TO ANY PROMPTS TO SAVE YOUR PASSWORD. IF YOUR HOME PC HAS A VIRUS, IS LOST, OR STOLEN YOU MUST TELL US IMMEDIATELY! HIPAA LAWS REQUIRE US TO CONTROL INFORMATION/RESOURCES AND WE CAN BE FINED IF SOMEONE BESIDES YOURSELF GAINED ACCESS TO OUR NETWORK
  1. Install "Microsoft Remote Desktop" from the "App Store"  (seller/publisher should be Microsoft; LINK)

  2. Go to nexusfamilyhealing.org then scroll to bottom & click RDS
  3. Enter (or click) your company email, then hit Enter or click Next. Enter password you use to login to work PCs, then hit Enter or click Sign in
    For security verify the website says microsoftonline.com (or one of the following: nexus-yfs.org ; live.com)

  4. On smartphone (or tablet you setup with the [MFA] authenticator app): tap approve & enter number seen on PC screen. You may have the option to get a text or call.

    1. If you don't get an alert on your phone open the  Microsoft Authenticator app & click arrow circle in top-right:


  5. Enter in your email & password again
  6. Click Remote Desktop, open the downloaded file:
  7. After opening the file enter your username & password for the last time. This time it can be just username


  8. Untick Drive & then click Connect


  9. Click No at Fiery Print, then close Citrix prompts:

  11. Use the PC as you need
  12. When you’re done click the red circle button on the bar at the top of the screen or you can log-off/sign-out

Webcam/microphone doesn't work for video calls

Teams calls with remote access on personal PC

Zoom calls with remote access on a personal PC

  1. Copy meeting link, then minimize 'Microsoft Remote Desktop' with top-left tap yellow and/or green button:
  2. Go to zoom.us/download then click Download (under Zoom Client for Meetings)
  3. Install Zoom from downloaded file
  4. Open Zoom, click Sign in, click SSO

  5. Company domain should be entered as nexus-yfs

  6. On website it opens (microsoftonline.comenter your work email address & password you login at work with
  7. Tap approve on your smartphone/tablet (on the device you setup with the barcode)
    1. If you don't get an alert on your phone open the  Microsoft Authenticator app & click arrow circle in top-right:
    2. You should also click the checkbox so you aren't bugged again later:
  8.  A pop-up may say "This site is trying to open Zoom Meeting" - in this case, check Always Allow and and press Open.
  9. You should now be logged into Zoom. However clicking links to join Zoom within remote access won't work, see next step
  10. To join meetings you can't click link within remote access, copy the link (or meeting ID), minimize remote access, paste link into browser (or enter meeting ID in Zoom)
  11. Schedule meeting
    1. After you minimized remote access & opened Zoom on your personal device click Schedule, change Calendar to ‘Other Calendars’, Copy to Clipboard (or Copy Invitation) 
    2. Go back to remote access, create new meeting/appointment within Outlook, Paste 
      Alternate: sign-in to Zoom on remote PC (blue bar) & schedule from there. Remember video calls will not work there
