Change the Name of a Team in Microsoft Teams

Important: You must be an Owner of the Team to change its name.

1. If you're in combined view, select Channels at the top of the chat pane, or in the left, select  Teams and find the Team.

2. Next to the Team name, select the More options () and then choose  Manage team.
   
   
   

3. Under the Settings tab, select Edit to enter the new Team name.
   
   
   

   The Team name can have spaces if desired. Any spaces must occur after the first character after the first hyphen.

   The Team name may not include the words "Folder", "Channel", "Team" or "Chat" - these words are reserved for other types of containers in Microsoft Teams.

   The new Team name must begin with one of these prefixes:
   

   Agency	Team Prefix

   Nexus Home Office	NHO-
   Foster, Adopt, and Community Services	FAC-
   Aspen House operated by Nexus Family Healing	ANH-
   Nexus-East Bethel	NEB-

   Hennepin County Youth Stabilization Center	NHS-
   Nexus-Indian Oaks	NIO-
   Nexus-Kindred	NKD-

   Nexus-Woodbourne	NWB-
   Nexus Family Healing's Walden Crossing	NWC-

   If appropriate, you can also edit the description of the Team at this time.
   
   
   

   

   Please do not change the Privacy level of the Team.
   Every Team at Nexus should be stay set to Private - "Only Team Owner can add members"
   This is, in part, to prevent youth from joining the Team.

4. Select Done.
