Restarting a Windows PC

If you are having an issue with Windows, a program, or other computer function, please try restarting the computer using these steps:
  1. Click  Start/Windows bottom-left button.
  2. Click  Power icon.
  3. Click  Restart.
This gives the PC a fresh start.
Many unique things happen at startup, so it reloads those from scratch.
Windows Updates and other computer maintenance may not occur during a "Shut down" and "turn back on".
Only a computer Restart is recommended for troubleshooting Windows issues.

Estimated average time to complete: Approximately 15 minutes.
Please do not attempt remediation for at least 30 minutes, Windows Updates and other maintenance may require 30 or more minutes to complete in some cases.
